Cup banter
All,
Please feel free to pass on your banter to your beaten cup challengers.
Here's my round up
Group A - Dave Vickers lucky to gain points from top dog Brido after Aurelio finally played and scored -1 just dropping him below the 5pts threshold!! Kearney as good as ever to beat Megan.
Group B - Ted has to put hat in hand and humbley congratulate his boss John on a great win!! Tough one after the points he scored himself!!
Group C - Phersy thumps, self-proclaimed champion elect Causie 2-0. Looks like the Credit Crunch collapse and the collapse in FanLeague might not be paying off the morgage this time!! At least the interest rates have adjusted for you Causie!!
Group D - Rob and Toby must be disappointed with a point after high scoring week. Think Kenny and Steven will be please with a point apiece!!
Please post your thoughts!!

2nd Round Up
Group A - Stuart Kearney streaks to a 3 point lead, but the glory is taken away by an infatic victory of one National Semi girl (Megan!) against another !!! lol. 5-1, that's 5-1 Megan O'Brien beat Brido by
Infact the it was that big, and streets ahead of anyone else, I was searching for a bug in the software for 10mins, genuinely!!
Group B - Keith showing his great record continues in the cup over the seasons. However he only just scrapped the win with a total weekly points of 10points to 9 (2-1). A surprise win for newcome Ted sends current holder Liz McAuslan to the bottom, with a bit of work to do as well. Oh dear!!!
Group C - Second bottom of the table Gary Ennis moves to the top with a very good win over the previous leader Phersy. Oh and look who's rooted to the bottom again with 1 point. Another McAuslan!!
Group D - After an all square week last week, someone had to get a win somewhere. NewComer Steven Walsh took complete control of that with the other result finishing a draw again too. However, for that reason, "It's as tight as a midgy's... in that league"

3rd Round RoundUp
Group A - Well last week it was Megan giving a thrashing, now their receiving one!! As for Brido, Good to see your apprentice Strikeforce came up for you for once since you put them in.
Group B - I'm sure everyone thought they has the full 3points in the bag in this league with all scoring a minimum of 2 goals, but it was only Keith who took advantage of them. The Manager of the Month only drew with the Moose of the Month, but still a Causie is bottom of the table!!!
Group C - Gary has been superb this month, coming second in the MOTM competition, and taking him to the top of the table. Still Second bottom of the Big league though, even with Robinho in your team Gary. Phersy looking pretty secure as well. Who's bottom, another Causie!!
Group D - Again, another week of draws in this group, only been one win in all 6 games. It's anyone's, but headed by Steven Walsh

4th Round Round Up
Group A - Well after Dave Vickers thumping of Brido, and Me sneaking a win, then the next game between Dave and Me only needs to be a draw for us both to qualify. Conspiracies can start here for the agreed draw between the Largs boys!!
Group B - Keith continues his great form in the cup (and the league this year) and now needs only a point from his last two games, and even then can still lose the remaining two and still qualify. Ted gets his revenge on his boss John. Eh JohnBoy, haven't heard from you in a while, think last time was when you rang me up to say Manager of the Month. Is it anything to do with 6 points.
Group C - Causie's out!!!
Group D - Steven Walsh takes command where everybody else fears to tread!! Anybody can qualify in this league.

5th Round
Group A - Stuart Kearney sneaks a final goal on the sunday to secure all three points against fellow qualification hopefull Dave Vickers. Both only need a draw so all conspiracy theories are down the drain!! Megan's plays Dave in the final week, so initially looks good, but Dave won first leg 3-0, so Megan needs a 3 goal win, and they'll go through on Goal Diff
Group B - Keith walks it as he walks everything these days, and second place more or less assured to newcomer Ted who has a 3 point lead on John Copperwheat (his boss). with the two previous games equal between themselves, it comes down to goal difference, John is on -3 and Ted on +1, so John needs a 5 goal swing to qualify!
Group C - Phersy's there, but don't worry he won't win it, he has a worse record than me, Yes that bad!! He used to be good, once, back in the early 90's, but age has set in now!! The chance is on for the second place. If Causie does it, it'll be one of the best 'down and out' stories of all time! He plays Gary in the final week, and since he lost the first game by 1 goal, needs a 2 goal win, but not only that Phersy must NOT lose to Mick ( a draw will do!!). Mike basically needs a win, but will qualify if Gary doesn't get more than a point. So basically tonnes of permatations!!
Group D - Is Steven Walsh the only person that can win in this group?? Unbelieveable!!! He's clear by a long way, as for the others, the permatations seem quite complicated, but on analysis are quite quite simply. Our Rob is a guarenteed qualifier as the final two games will be a draw! Quite simply really!!!

6th Round- Final Round
Group A - Well the two Largs boys show their dominance over the Greenock FanLeaguers!! A post match interview with newcomer Dave Vickers was heard to say "And these two people have been doing it for years. I was worried to begin with as they had a very good reputation, but now I realise a good reputation amongst numpties!". Contraversial !! As for Stuart Kearney's post match interview, he said "My total respects go out to Megan and Brido, they are still consider by far the better managers, and it was total luck that the Largs boys ran away with the league!!"
Group B - Keith Fox-Hammond again kept himself on for the Double, and a fine record in the cup. Newcomer Ted managed a draw against them to ensure their place in the quarters. He was heard to say about his boss John Copperwheat, "I heard Dave Vickers comments about Group A's final placings and I have to agree. These apparent experts are living in cloud cookoo land. All I've heard from John is I'm the current champion, and I didn't even have that cry arse Ronaldo in my team. Well I can only assume he put that Fat Ronaldo in this year, as his efforts were quite truthfully pathetic. As for Liz McAuslan, I was worried on the draw as I'd heard all about these McAuslan's. They are famous around the West coast of Scotland. Apparently, their winnings between them pay for the Sky Sports channel in the first place, and thus allow further analysis by exposure to the live games. Well I think they must have subscribed to ITV Digitial this year by mistake."
Group C - Phersy's efforts to focus on his managerial skills by taking redundancy from his day job recently have paid dividends big style!! Obviously, the extra cash has allowed him to employ better scouting staff and give him the chance to get his rewards by winning the cup. However, Robin McAuslan's was heard as saying in his post match interview. "Yes, we haven't performed this season, but the chairman is backed my 100% today, after I said we'd be back to old habits next season. I convinced him by saying this. It's quite quite obvious to me and everyone else, that Phersy has been focusing on the geegees recently taking his focus off the football, and thus for that reason he's started to perform better. How many seasons without success and all of a sudden qualifies with relative ease. When he gets a new job, he'll be back to his football management again, and we'll all look back on that day when we thought Phersy had something special" As for Mick he was a bit more diplomatic in his post match interview. "To be truthful, I never expected to qualify with 8 points. I can only put it down to Causie being totally tosh!, and Gary's great start fisalling out towards the end, even with the £32m Robinho in his team."
Group D - Yet another newcomer qualifies for the quarter. Steven Walsh didn't need to do a lot to qualify as everybody kept drawing. Rob Kearney was delighted with his qualifcation on the final day. He said "I'd heard that Toby was one up two and then three up, and with us only drawing, I knew that his infactic win would put him through on goal diff. I guess it was knowing what we had to do, that allowed us to step up and get the win we need." Kenny Roy was heard moaning about his England international infested team. "Yet again the Sasenachs go on about being the best in the world, and yet again don't step up to the plate. In England they think they should win the world cup, however here in Scotland, we recognise them as being exactly what they are, Quarter Finalists. Well in this case they weren't even that!". The first thing I'll be doing next year is not checking their goals or assists tally, but their Nationality"

Quarter Finals
Game 1 - Well what a game this was. 4-4 and it all came down to penalties. Both managers felt they had done enough, but it came down to one guy not playing in a team that got a clean sheet. That was man of the moment Gallas who didn't play for Arsenal. The double's still on for Kearney, and Ted MacDonald's complete admiration for his managerials skills were clearly apparent when he was interviewed. "John Copperwheat has been telling me all season that he's the man to listen to, but my eyes were opened by Kearney's approach. he has shown Copperwheat the clear way to manage, irrespective of whether he wins the double"
Game 2 - A bit of a turn up in the quarter finals, newcomer Dave Vickers showing Double chasing Keith Fox-Hammond, don't underestimate the middle tablers. Vickers commented, this Cup was designed for the element of chance for the lesser teams, and it didn't work in this case because we were clearly the better team. It might have only been a one goal win, but the margin in reality was a lot lot bigger. So Keith Fox-Hammond's dream of the double is over, and he back to hoping his good form returns this Saturday for the assault on the league. Keith commented, "It's an old saying, but now we can concentrate on the league with Stuart Kearney's focus being on the Cup Semi's this weekend"
Game 3 - Another high scoring game, and all the losers in the these first three games must be feeling really bad with such a good week of scoring this week. Rob Kearney, said "I was sitting mid table, realising that it's pointless entering the transfer market, and then out of the blue we qualified for the Quarter's of the Cup. The boys were boyant, and my chairman gave me backing to enter the transfer market, and as a whole the new strikeforce formation did very well to get three goals. Problem is that defence was awful, how could any team let four in against Phersy's team, beats me. Well we did, and for that now the season's over, some of them will get a boot up the backside, and the someothers will get a boot out the door"
Phersy's comments were simple and straight to the point in reaction to Causie's comments last week. "Get it up ya Causie, focus is the key. It's all about buying the right guys at the start, and look their still performing now. As for the next round, fair enough SK might be top, but whenever I've dealt with him he's been useless."
Game 4 - Steven Walsh , another newcomer sneaked through the quarters, thankfully after what can only be described as a dreadful game. He said afterwards "Our team was clearly not awake when they reached the ground, I can only suspect a few had been out on the razel the night before. Thank god Mick O'Brien's team did't even get on the bus!!"
With that result, the chairman of FanLeague was heard saying, "A necomer is now guarenteed to win money this year, which should hopefully keep them both in for a couple more season's"

Semi Finals
Game A - Phersy was bloody lucky!! Hit me on my only bad week. End of!!!
Game B - Dave Vickers is the complete surprise package this season, leaving it late in both the Cup and the league. He will now play old timer David McPherson in the final, and also has put himself in with a chance of 2nd place in the league as well. In the after match interview, he said "You have to feel for Steven Walsh, who like myself is a complete new comer. He should hold his head high, as no old timers has overcome him, he's just come up against a class act like myself. We have both put this league to shame. It comes down to whether your glass is half full or empty, and in my case it's certainly empty, as I can only look back on all that money that I've lost out on for the past 17 years. I heard all about the McAuslan's, O'Brien's, Fox-Hammond's and McPherson's, and as far as what I've seen of most of them, I'm not impressed. Money well lost!!!

Cup Final
Cup Final
Vickers was full of himself at half time as well as full time, and derservedly so as well. He did a inspirational transfer that gave him enough space to win the cup in an infatic game 4-3. Jagielka of all players for a team that has leaked goals from day one this season. Well that proved to be 2 clean sheets, and proving the importance of management is to put those most unexpected of players in at exactly the right time. Vickers was very gracious to McPherson, saying "In any ohter game 4 goals in a double week should see them off once and for all, but McPherson's was always in with a chance right up until the final game, and it was that that made this years Cup final one of the most excting for years"
McPherson was heard to say "There will be an investigation of improper transfer activing on the day before the first game on Boxing Day. The transfer of Jagielka was pivotal in this game and question marks must be raised. But if, everything was legal and above board, I can only congratulate Vickers on his first attempt this year. Not only did he come to the for at the right time in the Cup, but only missed out by a point in the league on 2nd place. That alone makes him a force for next season. Regrets, Yes, I have only one, why the hell did Gerrard decide to beat someone up before the game on Sunday rather than after it? That would have won me the cup. Scally!!!!"
